Dr. Helen Parker
Trainer & Investigations Specialist
Helen Parker is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Newham University Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust. She holds a Fellowship from the Royal College of Emergency Medicine, a Diploma in Geriatric Medicine, and a Master’s in Medical Education from Queen Mary University of London.
Helen has extensive experience in clinical leadership, patient safety, and governance. She led Emergency and Acute Medicine through the COVID-19 pandemic and now oversees the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) across her Trust.
Her work in safety improvement was recognised with the 2024 HSJ Patient Safety Congress Poster Prize for “PSIRF in Practice.” She is also known for her leadership in complex case reviews and her commitment to fostering supportive, open team cultures.
A passionate educator, Helen has developed national training programmes in communication, mental health, and simulation-based learning. She currently leads curriculum development and supports education fellows at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry.
Helen’s interests include systems-based learning, psychological safety, and patient engagement.
