Matthew has over 25 years’ experience in pre-hospital care and has worked in the UK and the Middle East. Having specialised in critical care he has a particular interest on the effects of stress on the individual and team performance and has previously worked on London’s Air Ambulance.
Matthew has a MSc in Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors and has developed a behaviour marker system to measure and feedback non-technical skills in the pre-hospital setting. In addition he has also conducted research on taking a systems approach to investigate medical error.
He is currently working at City St George's University, and is the course director of the postgraduate patient safety curriculum. Matthew teaches on healthcare courses across the medical faculty, as well as leading a postgraduate course in leadership in advanced clinical practice and organisational culture.
