Dr. Catherine Stretton
Trainer & Quality Improvement Specialist
Cath believes that amazing things happen every day in our healthcare systems, but our current processes are ill equipped to capture and understand them. She sees these as opportunities to feedback positively to colleagues and as a crucial chance to improve our systems. She is passionate about using quality improvement science, learning from excellence and appreciative inquiry methodologies to do this.
Throughout her career as an Anaesthetist, quality improvement is a constant theme. As a junior doctor she played almost every role in QI delivery; from data collection, implementing PDSA cycles and to running a regional group to deliver successful QI projects deanery wide. She is widely published in these roles. She has been trained by NHS Lothian’s Quality Academy and the IHI and now enjoys regularly acting as a mentor for others undertaking meaningful QI work and teaching QI methodologies.
