Power, privilege and influence
Power, privilege, and inequity in the NHS manifest as persistent, avoidable disparities in workforce experiences. Driven by structural racism, classism, and top-down institutional hierarchies, marginalised staff frequently face systemic disadvantages. This half-day workshop will interrogate power and analyse privilege to help you to shift your normal course and adopt practices that recognise privilege, cede power and influence others around you.

Course objectives
This course will:
Define privilege and power and identify various forms of privilege, including those related to race, gender, socioeconomic status, and more.
Reflect on the personal and systemic impacts of privilege and power in the workplace, considering how privilege shapes individual experiences, opportunities, and interactions.
Learn strategies to leverage privilege and power in positive ways for colleagues and the organisation, including advocating for marginalised voices, challenging inequitable practices, and promoting inclusivity.
Explore the role of allyship in using privilege and power to support and uplift marginalised individuals and communities within the workplace.
Understand the importance of actively engaging in allyship efforts to dismantle systemic barriers, foster diversity, equity, and inclusion, and promote a more equitable work environment.
